Belize Chapter 1: Caye Caulker

Chapter 1 – Caye Caulker (March 26 - March 29)

After dropping off Maddy with her grandparents (both sets, one week each!) in Minnesota, Steve and I set off on our Belize Adventure.  We had a full two weeks and we stayed in four places, which I’ve been referring to as “chapters.” Chapter 1 starts March 26, 2017 with our arrival in Belize City, Belize.  We took a water taxi to Caye (pronounced "key" and means "island") Caulker and thus began our adventure.

Highlights: seeing a manatee, swimming with rays and sharks, golf carts and bikes (no cars), island motto: Go Slow, sunsets, crab and conch, fry jacks, free shot at the Sports Bar standing on the table during Freebird,  air conditioned room with a wrap-around balcony, leave key at the desk (can't lose it that way), gorgeous water color, frozen drinks, rum punch, drumming, reading on the beach, sea horses, Glenda's cinnamon roll, street tacos, turtle necklace and conch bracelet, Lazy Lizard.
