We love the plays at the Northwest Children's Theater!  The first play was Emilia Earhart's First Flight, this one done with the Starlings as the main characters.  The plays are geared toward kids and after each performance, the actors gather in the lobby area to meet the audience members and  autograph the programs.  Maddy loves this part and always wants to get as many autographs as possible.  She's getting better at letting us take some photos, too!

September Wrap Up

So many fun events in September including the Swift (bird) migration at the Chapman School with the Rocks, OMSI with Carson, James and Malena and two sleepovers.  Christy and I went to see Billy Elliot, which got even more interesting when the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the theater for a short time.  While outside, a protest/parade went by.  Just another day in Portland!

We have a new addition to the family! We adopted a scruffy little bundle of love named Liam from an organization called the Pixie Project.  He's a rescue that was a street dog from California and the poor little guy was in rough shape when found.  He had to have a couple of surgeries to remove foxtails that had embedded in his skin and when we met him he was still recovering.  He is probably part poodle, maybe some terrier, maybe some Lhasa Apso, definitely hypo-allergenic and therefore a good fit for our family (Steve's allergic).  He's 3-4 years old, very quiet, doesn't play much and dislikes going on walks, lagging behind and putting on the brakes so that we have to drag him along.  He's also a great snuggler with a playful spark (rare but there!)

The Pixie Project has potential adoptive families take the dog home for a two-week "trial period" to ensure the dog's a good fit and at the end of our trial, we knew Liam belonged with us.

The Krauski's Visit Portland

So fun to have Anne, Stefan, Emilia, Henry and Nolan Krause visit Portland and stay with us!  It was great to catch up with Anne and have a couple of days together.  The whole family even got to catch one of Maddy's soccer games!  The kids had a great time playing and Stefan enjoyed tasting some of Portland's beer selection. :)

Theater Ticket Delivery

Once again we are season ticket holders for the Northwest Children's Theater (NWCT)!  This year we'll have three other families join us - the Gregoriches (with Althea), the Rocks (with Olivia), the Sweanys (with Luella).  We had a character delivery at our home and one of the NWCT Starlings came along and were able to meet Althea and Maddy, and deliver our tickets.  Fun way to start the season!
