More July Fun

Lots of July fun!  We grilled out over at Eric, Emily, Audrey and Ella's home and had fun playing with the girls.  The Montavilla Street Fair also happened in July on a very hot day.  Vestal had a booth and our family volunteered for a bit with other Vestal families.  Since Steve is the new PTA Secretary we do lots of volunteering!

Marnie went to a Brandi Carlisle show at the Zoo with the ladies and had a great time.  She has such a powerful voice, and it was a fantastic show.

So far it's been a great summer!

Gymnastics!

Maddy loves gymnastics!  She has been taking gymnastics for a couple years now through USA Gym Club with her buddy Carson.  It's nice for me and Steve since we're friends with Carson's family and it's nice for Maddy to have a close friend in her class!  We don't usually get to see her practice since parents are asked NOT to watch (too distracting) but Maddy's coach Ellen said Maddy wanted to show me her bar work and I was so happy to see her do her thing.  I am so proud of my little peanut!

Catching up with ChildRoots Friends

We met up with some ChildRoots Southsider Graduates and families at Sunset at the Zoo in July.  It was nice to catch up with some of Maddy's friends from pre-school and see how everyone is doing.

Sherwood Robin Hood Festival

When you live in a town called Sherwood, you might as well celebrate with a Robin Hood Festival!

Maddy and I checked out Sherwood, Oregon's Robin Hood Festival this year for a few hours and we had a great time!   Maddy wore a fairy outfit which fit the theme well enough.  We walked around booths and enjoyed some festival food (corn dogs and ice cream!) and watched some jousting and a magic show.  There was music and fun all around - we wished we had more time there!  Maybe next year we'll make a whole day of it!

Fourth of July

This year we stayed in Portland for the Fourth of July.   We spent a lot of time at the Bayfront Blues Festival with Christy, Andy and Luella Sweany.  When we weren't there, we spent time at the Faust Family Pool. : )

On the 4th we went to East Portland Community Center to join the festivities, which included food, face-painting, temporary tattoos...and a bike parade!  The girls had decorated their bikes ahead of time so we were ready to go.  Fun times!

We hosting a Fourth of July BBQ and friends came to hang out and play in the pool.  That evening we played with sparklers, then headed to the old Wilcox School just down the street to see some local (and amazingly big) fireworks displays.

Overall, a great celebration!

Maddy successfully graduated from Kindergarten!

There was family event to commemorate the event which included a showcase of some of her work throughout the year.  Hard to believe she'll be a big First Grader now!  She's doing so well in school - showing her true colors, her strong friendship, her caring attitude and her love of learning.  We couldn't be more proud of our little peanut.
