Play Date, Birthday Party AND Sleepover, oh my!

Maddy and Carson

Last weekend was packed full of fun activities, starting with Maddy's dance class on Saturday morning. It's a thirty minute stretching, ballet, animal impersonation, tumbling, free-style freeze dance type of class perfect for our almost-three-year-old! Maddy's school friend Karina is also in the class which is great, as the two girls are much more outgoing with a friend nearby (and it's nice for me to have Deepti, Karina's mom, participating with me, too). The class has been fantastic so far and is every Saturday through the middle of June.

After dance class, Maddy and I hopped in the car, picked up Steve at home, and headed over to Carson's home (one of Maddy's best school friends) for a play date. Carson and Maddy played downstairs in a big play area (on their own!!!) while Steve, Melina (Carson's mom) and I chatted. Melina made a big breakfast of pancakes, bacon, cheesy eggs, juice, coffee and mimosas, and Steve and I contributed strawberries and pineapple. Melina's husband and other son were out of town, so she and Carson enjoyed the company and Steve, Maddy and I had a great time visiting/playing.

Saturday evening our friends Christy, Andy and Luella Sweany came over, bringing Papa Murphy Pizza with them. Maddy LOVED her personal kid-sized "make-your-own-cheese-pizza" (brilliant idea!) and we all loved the chicken artichoke pizza. Our babysitter Tiana came a bit later to watch over Luella and Maddy while Steve, Christy, Andy and I headed out for our friend Emily's birthday bash.  Afterward, the Sweanys stayed over at our place, and in the morning Steve made us traditional German pancakes- yum! Maddy loved having the Sweanys at our home the next morning- sleepovers are fun!!

Later Sunday Maddy and I headed to Colonel Sumers park for her school friend Kai's birthday party, which basically consisted of a mob of three year olds taking over the playground. It was lots of fun!!!   : )

See ya, Mommy and Daddy!

Our dear friend Daynia offered to babysit last weekend so Steve and I could have a date night out on the town. Madeline was unbelievably excited, saying "Bye Mommy and Daddy! Have fun!" and nearly pushing us out the door the moment Daynia arrived. No wonder, considering Daynia had promised a tea party, and boy, did she deliver! Maddy and Daynia made cookies for the tea party and Daynia brought a "Princess kit" compete with tiara, earrings and a ring! Maddy invited her friends (kitty, bunny and daddy bunny) and they enjoyed "tea" (lemonade), cookies and "yum yums" (little candies). When Daynia asked Maddy if she liked the lemonade, Maddy replied (totally in character) "delicious!"

Oh, and Steve and I had a fun night, too. :  )

Thanks, Daynia!

Birthday Party on a Train

Madeline's school friend Eli celebrated his third birthday this past weekend by going for a ride on a train! We all met at the Oregon Rail Heritage Museum, spent some time clamoring aboard a Caboose and checking out the trains. Our train ride was lots of fun, lasted about 40 minutes, and happened (luckily!) during the only sunny portion of the day!
